Literacy Support and the Title One Program
Title One is a federally regulated program for identifying and servicing students most at risk for literacy. We have an eligibility process that takes place in the fall each year to identify those eligible for Title 1 services. Eligibility for 2019- 2020 year will be completed by the beginning of October, and. I will be hosting an Open House for Title 1 families shortly after. This year we lost the position previously held by Carol McCormack, so I will be the only Reading Specialist here at Deer Hill. I wish her well in first grade down at Osgood! We will miss her here.
If you suspect your child is having difficulty in literacy and he/she did not qualify for Title One support, reach out to your classroom teacher. Together you can come up with a plan to support your child in the classroom.I am available for consultation in putting together a plan. A teacher may decide to utilize the Tiered Support Team process to bring your concerns to a team of educators for further discussion and study.
