At Deer Hill we have a tiered system of support to address the needs of struggling students. Students move through the tiers with increasingly intensive interventions. In a few cases students are referred to Special Education testing, but we do our best to differentiate instruction and provide intervention to meet the needs of the students within the regular education classroom.
Tiered System of Support (TST):
If teachers have concerns about a student, they should collaborate with grade level colleagues and the relevant specialists about strategies for helping the child. Fill out the Google Form to alert the team that you have a child with some concerns. Next be sure that an action plan is in place for that child. Once teachers have collected information on how that plan is working, the team will meet and we can make further recommendations. Collecting data is an important step, but it is your interpretation and response to that data that we will discuss. Scenarios
This form is for reference when creating an action plan. There are helpful ideas for you to consider when designing an action plan. It has many ideas in order to help you find the ones that best fit your situation. Choose the ones that are most relevant.

If we should decide to try an intervention with a specialist as part of the recommendation, then this parent letter will let parent give permission for any short term pull out.
